2018 Wittmann Westhofener Riesling Trocken
Tasting Notes: A bone dry Riesling with notes of ripe apricot, nectarine, mango, and sublime salinity.
"Plenty of butter, milk, apricot pie, mangoes, papaya and dried-pear tart. Even a touch of bananas. While the nose is certainly in the tropical zone, the palate is unexpectedly steely with a deep indent of acidity punctuating the otherwise soft and round impression. A contrastive, tense white in the end." - 95 Points, James Suckling
"This ripe version exhibits guava, peach and mango aromas and flavors, with an underlying spiciness. Balanced, yet exhibits electric acidity. Salty hints mark the finish." - 92 Points, Wine Spectator | 2021 Top 100
91 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
90 Points, Wine & Spirits
The Wittman family has been producing wine in Rheinhessen since 1663. They have been pioneers in developing the full-bodied style of dry wines for which the region is known. They were early adopters of both organic and biodynamic viticulture. The attention and care they give their vineyards can be seen in the quality of their wines.
