Two Mountain Winery Merlot
Tasting Notes: This is Yakima Valley Merlot in its true glory. Beautiful oak, cocoa dust, a healthy dose of raw fig and a dash of briny/salty intrigue provide an enticing aromatic first act leading to a series of palate ballets between lilac & bay leaf, cherry candy & roasted beets, black pepper & cumin…all dancing on a beautifully soft mid-palate dance floor that stretches for miles.
Named after the majestic view of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams which can be seen from the vineyards, Two Mountain Winery was founded in 2000. The Rawn family had been fruit farmers in Yakima Valley for more than 50 years when they decided to convert a cherry orchard to vines. Brothers Matthew and Patrick follow a minimalistic approach to growing and making wine. They feel they have an obligation to "operate in a way that ensures the next generation inherits a world worthy of their potential." Through their tireless efforts, Two Mountain became Washington State's first certified sustainable vineyard.
