Truchard Vineyards 'The Shepherd' Red
The Truchard family planted vines in Carneros when everyone else thought it was too cold for winemaking, and yet they quickly became a grape source for some of the most prestigious wineries in Napa. While their vineyards span some 400 acres, they reserve a small amount of the best grapes for themselves! The 'Shepherd' is a great value from Napa Valley, something the Truchards make possible by blending in more unconventional grapes than you usually see in the region (including Tempranillo). Aged 12 months in 30% new French oak, this wine offers gorgeous flavors of blackberry, plum, and black pepper that lead into a long finish of cedar and tobacco. 500 cases produced.
