Prodigo Nero d'Avola

Sicily is one of the world's trendiest wine regions in big part thanks to a growing appreciation for volcanic wines! One of the area's native grapes is Nero d'Avola, a fantastic alternative to Syrah that's great with savory, umami dishes. Prodigo's fantastic value Nero is plush since it undergoes the appasimento process, a kind of drying out of the grapes that creates a richer, more luscious mouthfeel in the wine (this is also how you make Amarone!). This full-bodied wine offers smooth flavors of dried plums, black cherry, blackberries, and vanilla on the palate, which is oaky with sweet tobacco spices and silky tannins on the long, easy-going finish. It is a fantastic pairing with BBQ Bacon Burgers.
