It's really not hard to see why Jose Neiva Correia is Portugal's top winemaker. He crafts selections for Portugal's most innovative and highly awarded brands. He was dubbed 'Senhor do Vinho' (Mister Wine) at the Portuguese Wine Oscars, the highest and most prestigious honor bestowed in the Portuguese wine industry. And he was named 'Best of the Year' by Portuguese Wine Magazine for his incredible dedication to creating some of the best values in the Old World. So, when you see his name on a wine label, know that you're in for something that is utterly and truly exceptional!

Born and raised among the vines on one of the oldest wine estates in Portugal, Correia was destined to become a winemaking master. He began his career interning at top estates in Bordeaux and Germany, then studied under Octavio Pato – one of the most famous oenologists of the 1970s – elevating his skills to a world-class level. Winemaking was never a family obligation or responsibility; he saw it as an honor, approaching every new project with talent, creativity, and enthusiasm. His guiding principle? Make high-quality wines at competitive prices – or in his own words, “if I were a car manufacturer, my aim would be to produce Mercedes at the price of Volkswagens.”

Over the course of his career, his wines have swept up hundreds of awards, including 4 medals and the #22 spot on Wine Enthusiast's Top Best 100 Buys for the 2015 DFJ Vinhos Patamar Reserva. This unique blend of Alicante Bouschet, Caladoc, Shiraz, and Touriga Nacional is full-bodied and rich, with brilliant ripe red fruit and spice aromas followed by blackberry, black cherry, and pepper flavors on the palate. It spends 3 months in French oak before bottling, teasing out intricate spice nuances and refined tannins that lead into a surprisingly soft yet persistent finish.

“This is a concentrated wine that has fine tannins that are integrated with the ripe blackberry flavor. It is rich and dense in feel, with a succulent texture. Drink now.” 90 Points & #22 Top 100 Best Buys, Wine Enthusiast
