Palacios Remondo 'La Vendimia'
Blend: Garnacha, Tempranillo
Tasting Notes: La Vendimia displays floral notes and light red fruit aromas that lead into ripe cherries and juicy orchard fruit on the palate. The wine has a soft minerality and a long, refreshing finish with fine tannins. This wine can also be enjoyed slightly chilled.
To say that Álvaro Palacios was destined to make great wine is no understatement. Born into a six-generation winemaking family in Rioja, he spent his childhood in the vines, mastering traditional techniques yet yearning for something more. When he left the family farm and started making wine in the 1980s in Priorat – which, at the time, was a rugged no-man’s-land – everyone thought he was crazy. Fast forward four decades, and his trademark Priorat L’Ermita is one of the most coveted wines in the world, costing upwards of $1,400 a bottle. He has been lauded as one of the architects of “New Spain”, earning countless top ratings and the title “Top Winemaker of 2022.” Today he also makes wines at the Rioja estate founded in 1945 by his father, bringing together his cutting-edge techniques with his family’s historical legacy. La Vendimia, meaning "the harvest" represents the potential of a Spanish joven, wines that have been aged for less than six months in oak barrels.
