Maison Foucher 'La Vigne des Sablons' Vouvray
‘Vouvray’ describes Chenin Blanc made in the Vouvray subzone of France’s Loire Valley, and it can be anything from a bone-dry table wine to a rich, sweet dessert wine. This Vouvray is a demi-sec, a style that isn't quite dry but isn't too sweet either. It is fruity and highly aromatic, with enticing aromas of pear, apricot, and honeysuckle that lead into flavors of green apple, ripe persimmon, honey, and ginger on the palate. It is medium-bodied with citrusy acidity and racy limestone minerality leading into a lingering finish. If you love Mosel Riesling or Alsatian white blends, this is a great wine for you. 'Les Vignes des Sablons' is produced by Maison Foucher, whose tasting and blending specialist previously worked as a fine wine negociant dealing with wines such as Romanee-Conti and Mouton-Rothschild.
