Los Noques 'Finca Don Juan' Estate Red

Los Noques is a small-batch winery with a penchant for crafting artisanal single-vineyard selections, but even they have a flagship Bordeaux-style red that relies on blending vineyard blocks to make the best wine. Made only in the best vintages from the best barrels of the vintage, the cepage (grape composition) of their Finca Don Juan Estate Bottled red blend changes from year to year and is never the same. The 2013 bottling comprises 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Malbec, an especially polished pair. Dark aromas of blueberry, cherry, and caramel lead into rich, concentrated flavors of cassis, blackberry, red pepper, and vanilla on the palate. It is smooth, silky, and luxurious, with gorgeous structure and a long finish of fig and tobacco. It spent 15 months in 10% American and 90% new French oak, lending longevity and refinement.
