Mauro Molino 'Leradici' Barbera d'Asti
Mauro Molino grew up in Piedmont, but took a break to work in Emilia-Romagna after his military service. When he came home in the late 70s, he began producing fine Barolos from some of the region's best vineyards (and never stopped). Unfortunately, Barolo is too expensive for everyday drinking, but Barbera d'Asti provides a great value alternative from the same part of Italy; indeed, it's what the locals drink! This delightful Barbera offers enticing aromas of raspberries, rose petals, and spices on the nose, showing good fruit with just a hint of rusticity. The palate shows distinctive flavors of plum and balsamic, leading into a long and mineral finish. This wine is a fantastic alternative for Cabernet Franc fans, and it's a great option with Sausage Pizza!
