Quinta dos Grilos Red Blend
Hailing from the Dao region, the 2018 Grilos Red Blend is a blend of three indigenous Portuguese grapes: Touriga Nacioal, Aragonez, and Jaen. This wine is perfect if you’re looking for an everyday drinking wine but want something a little more unique. It earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast but sells for under $15. Talk about great value!
Although Dao is one of the oldest established wine regions in Portugal, it has been overshadowed by the much more well-known Douro Valley. But in the past few years, Dao has been rediscovered as a place of high-quality wines at bargain prices. Its quality to value ratio surpasses many other European wine regions.
"Ripe and focused with a beam of dark cherry and plum puree flavors scored with singed vanilla and dark tea. Shows a subtle savory edge that keeps the toasty finish lively. Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Jaén. Tasted twice with consistent notes" – 90 Points, Wine Spectator
