This deliciously expressive wine showcases rich aromas of dark cherry, ripe strawberry, and dried rosemary, all of which lead into bold flavors of dried red fruits, plum, and baking spice on the palate. Six months of oak aging adds a supple French vanilla twist on the long, luxurious finish. This is the perfect Pinot for everyday drinking, whether it's next to a fire pit or paired with salmon, pizza, or even bison burgers.

The Zaninovich family boast an impressive history of grape growing that goes back almost 75 years. After immigrating from their impoverished homeland of Croatia and working their way across America to the west coast, they bought vineyards in central California and began producing table grapes. After honing their sustainable, environmentally practices over the course of three generations, they finally took the next logical step: making wine.

In 2000 the family founded Rutherford Ranch in the heart of Napa Valley's Silverado Trail. Over the next two decades they developed such a big following – Robert Parker even called the winery 'one of Napa's outstanding values' – that they began producing additional selections under their Rutherford Wine Company label. These award-winning bottles, which showcase the diversity of California's growing regions, are sourced from premier vineyards across the state and finished at the family's Napa winery.

At the helm of this winemaking operation is Jay Turnipseed, a highly respected vintner who previously served as Senior Winemaker at Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery. In Jay's own words, “all fine wines begin with outstanding fruit but great wines also require an artistic touch. My passion - and my challenge - is to use the palette of flavors from the vineyard to craft delicious wines that uniquely express their origins as well as my own personal style.” And thus, Four Virtues Pinot Noir was born.

Jay sources grapes from the cool-climate Monterey region, where sea breezes, fog, and lower daytime temperatures create a perfect home for Pinot Noir. This wine offers fantastic value for the price, and is a must-have for any lover of ripe, oak-driven California Pinots!
