Farina Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
First founded at the beginning of the 16th century in the heart of the ultra-premium Valpolicella Classico region, the Farina Estate marries ancient tried-and-true methods with modern winemaking technology to produce rich, elegant wines. Today the winery is managed by the newest generation, who continue their family legacy of producing exquisite reds of unmatched complexity and decadence that are a shining example of what Italy has to offer.
In fact, they had the incredible honor of being named 'Best Italian Wine Producer of the Year' at the industry-leading International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC)!
Anyone who's had the pleasure of enjoying their selections knows that this is what northern Italy is all about. They've perfected the Amarone process: first, fruit from mature vines is allowed a very long hang time to ensure maximum ripeness. At harvest, each bunch is hand-selected for quality and air-dried to reduce the water content by 30-40%, leaving only the purest essence of these beautiful grapes. The highly extracted juice develops even more depth while aging in oak barrels for 2 years, and an additional year in the bottle allows the wine to attain mouth-watering perfection.
The finished wines are well worth the time and effort, and the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG is an indulgent luxury like no other. This blend of 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Molinara is brimming with ethereal aromas of fig, crushed rose petals, and spice, leading into a robust, full-bodied palate packed with opulent flavors of dried red cherries, cinnamon, chocolate, and toasted oak. It's gorgeously round and plush, with firm tannins and soft acidity that bring out a velvety-smooth finish that seems to go on for days. In short – pure heaven.
This wine is so good that Luca Gardini, one of Italy's most famous sommeliers, ranked their 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella as one of the 50 best wines in the world!
