Domaine du Joncier "L'O"
Tasting Notes: Domaine du Joncier L’O is a medium-bodied wine made from Grenache and Syrah. Powerful aromas of red and black fruits lead into a palate with notes of cherry, raspberry, and a hint of spice. On the finish, there are lingering flavors of black pepper and minerality. The selection has excellently balanced acidity, silky tannins, and a soft finish. The wine is naturally fermented with native yeast and has an incredibly short fermentation time of ten days that keeps the finished product light and fresh.
Marine Roussel has had a rather atypical career. Her father, Pierre, started Domaine du Joncier in 1964, and urged Marine to become a winemaker. Wanting to forge her own path, she instead decided to become a graphic designer, leaving the Rhone Valley to live in Marseille and Paris. Eventually, Marine felt drawn to the vines and returned home to put down roots. She joined the estate in 1989 and took over the helm from her father. Marine aims to achieve balance, purity, and minerality in her wines. This led her to quickly adopt organic winemaking, followed later by biodynamic and natural/vegan practices. Today, Domaine du Joncier makes just five wines that represent the best the Rhone Valley has to offer.
