This is an approachable Right Bank Bordeaux that offers red cherry, raspberry, plum, and redcurrant flavors with well-integrated tannins and a dusty finish. Chateau les Bascauts is the second estate of Chateau Haut-Maco, which has farmed the neighboring properties in the Cotes de Bourg zone since the 19th century. Cotes de Bourg isn't as well-known as other appellations in Bordeaux, which leads to much better values - after all, when was the last time you had a sub-$20 Bordeaux that was this good?
