Carne Humana

Blend: Petit Sirah, Zinfandel, Petit Verdot, Syrah

Tasting Notes:  Carne Humana is a selective field blend and different grape varieties are blended together prior to fermentation, allowing the strength of each grape to meld into a balanced red wine, with aromas of dried fig, black licorice, and charred meat leading into flavors of cherry pie filling, tobacco, maple syrup, dark fruits, and sweet oak.

“Before Napa, there was Carne Humana.”  In 1841, General Mariano Vallejo helped secure a stretch of land of current-day Napa for surgeon Edward Bale—in part because he married Vellejo’s niece and as a reward for his services as surgeon-in-chief for Vallejo’s troops.
