Tasting Notes: This full-bodied Syrah opens with aromas of black pepper, tobacco, and dark fruit. On the palate, the dark fruit is evident. Flavors of blackberries and jam are accompanied by a hint of vanilla. Ripe, fine-grained tannins lead into a lingering finish.
Avantis, named after the ancient tribe that first inhabited the area, begins in 1830, when the first grapes were cultivated. Their first wines were produced in 1994. The estate operates on the principle of quality at all stages of production. The Mediterranean climate and long periods of sunshine help grapes ripen perfectly.
