2019 Thelema Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Aromas of ripe peach and blossom with a hint of toasty oak. On the palate, grapefruit marmalade accompanies a complex yeasty flavor. It is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, which gives it just the right amount of fullness without being too oaky.
94 Points - Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report
In 1983, Gyles Webb abandoned his accounting career and purchased Thelema with his wife's family. The estate needed intense repairs in the first few years, but by the mid 1990s, Thelema became one of the most sought-after wine estates in South Africa. Thet attribute the quality of their beautiful wines to their policies. Thelema believes grape quality is the single most important factor in winemaking. This leads them to a minimal intervention approach that allows the wines to be a true expression of each vineyard.
