Vinhos Borges was established in the Douro region of Portugal by brothers Antonio and Francisco all the way back in 1884. Over the course of three centuries the company has become a standard-bearer of Portuguese wine, setting the bar for both quality and value.
In 1913 they also created one of the country’s very first Douro table wines: the ‘Lello’ Tinto. Composed of indigenous varieties like Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca, Lello is aged partially in stainless steel tanks and partially in French oak barrels for 4-6 months. The palate offers bold yet balanced layers of red cherry, spiced berries, and dark plum which are underpinned by touches of cedar and earth. All of these flavors are woven together effortlessly by smooth tannins and a soft mouthfeel, creating a wine that is simultaneously intriguing and crowd-pleasing.
