Storm Point is the Swartland-based side project of Australian winemaker Mick Craven. Craven is the winemaker for famed Stellenbosch producer Mulderbosch, and he also produces his minimalist Craven Wines in the same region. He ended up in South Africa by marriage: he met his wife Jeanine, also a winemaker, while working at a winery in Sonoma, California. After years of exploring other wine regions, they returned to South Africa to produce terroir-driven, minimal intervention wines. He created Storm Point to honor the country’s 400-year history as a port of exploration. These wines represent the best of what South Africa has to offer: purity, texture, and concentrated elegance.
Storm Point offers plump raspberry, cherry, and currant aromas that lead into pomegranate, lavender, candied orange peel and bergamot on the juicy, spicy palate.
