Bianco di Morgante
Made From: Nero d'Avola
Tastes Like: Raspberry, Pineapple, White Flowers
This unique white wine was made from the red Nero d’Avola grape that grows in Sicily. Though many sparkling wines are made from red grapes that don’t undergo skin contact, still white wines made from red grapes are still extremely rare. Morgante was crafted by none other than Riccardo Cotarella, a.k.a. the “Wizard of Wine” and the consultant behind our beloved Masseria Li Veli. Washington Post wine writer Dave McIntyre lauded this “great value” and described it as “the type of wine I tend to be quiet about so I can hoard it for myself.” Curious red fruit flavors akin to guava and raspberry are joined by saline minerality, citrus, ripe pineapple, and white flowers.
