J.Lohr ‘Wildflower’ Valdiguié
Arroyo Seco, California
Tastes Like: Blueberries, Wild Flowers, Pomegranate
Until a few years ago, most people thought that Valdiguié was the same varietal as Gamay (the red grape of Beaujolais). Today, this curiously rare southern French grape is becoming trendy in California thanks to old vine cuttings and the delight of obscurity. This is a lovely, light-bodied red with aromas of brambly fruit and pepper that lead into juicy flavors of boysenberry, pomegranate, and blueberry.
