Since their founding in 1998, Dutton-Goldfield has become one of California’s most respected producers of Pinot Noir. Their wines have earned literally hundreds of premier ratings from the world’s toughest critics, and they have even been named a Top Sonoma Producer?by Wine Spectator. To ensure that their wines will continue to be enjoyed by future generations, all of their vineyards are certified sustainable.
The Emerald Ridge vineyard is located in the revered Green Valley subregion of the Russian River Valley. One of the smallest appellations in the greater RRV, Green Valley is also the coolest and foggiest – i.e., ideal for premium Pinot production. Steve Dutton planted much of Emerald Ridge to the coveted Pommard clone of Pinot Noir, which produces gorgeously bold, structured, dark-fruited wines.
?From an east-facing knoll in the heart of the appellation, this is an earthy red showing barrel oak and tea accents lifted by bright acidity and ongoing freshness. Blueberry, pomegranate and rhubarb flavors mingle around layered tannins and a light body. The texture is taut yet lush, with a savory baking-spice component.? ? 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast
