Made From: Sangiovese
Tastes Like: Red Fruit, Tobacco, Leather, Spice
This full-bodied Sangiovese comes not from Tuscany but from neighboring Umbria, which isn’t nearly as well-known. Natural wine producer Carlo Tabbarini harvests his organically and biodynamically farmed old-vine grapes by hand, doesn’t add sulfur, and leaves the wine unfined and unfiltered. This creates an ultra-concentrated red, with aromas of dried red fruit, herbs, earth, and leather that lead into rich flavors of cherry cola, anise, sunbaked terracotta, and thyme on the palate. Well-balanced, with smooth tannins and a long finish.
